On Enhanced Interrogation Techniques
9/1/2009

"The enhanced interrogation techniques were absolutely essential in saving thousands of American lives,"
- Former Vice President Dick Cheney

My sincere and non-political questions to Mr. Cheney would be:

  1. The second worst act of terrorism on America soil was perpetrated by Americans (Timothy McVeigh & Terry Nichols' bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma). In a "war on terror" should we consider adopting enhanced interrogation techniques against American citizens suspected of plotting terrorism?

  2. If these techniques really are effective should we consider adopting their use against organized crime and other very dangerous criminals not related to the "war on terror"?

Yeah, he'd dodge and squirm and not answer my question - or answer it in an ethically non-consistent way, but hell, i'd love to ask it in front of a slew of reporters...
