Moon Movie

We went and saw the new science fiction film Moon last night and very much enjoyed it. Intelligent and atmospheric without being ponderous this is the kind of film I love. In many ways it's a throwback to the 2001 / Silent Running / Space: 1999 style which emphasizes the wonder and loneliness of space and is more than willing to leave the viewer without all the answers.
Now that I think about it, I've really missed smart sci-fi films. Most of what passes for sci-fi these days isn't. It's usually space opera where drama and action are the central themes. True sci-fi always has ideas at its core and Moon delivers solidly on that front. And even more, I've missed science fiction that is based, on well, SCIENCE! No phony aliens and no impossibly improbably technologies.
Moon: well worth your time.
