The Weekend: Bird Loops, Casio Offers, Will Away
10/1/2007

I delivered the final mixes for my solo EP to Jay for mastering this last week. Now it's time to play catchup on all those chores that have been languishing for weeks. Tires for the car, a Website for Mom, and a basement studio that's in sore need of cleaning...

Saturday Will took off for a pottery festival in New Hope and I went with Jay, Lea, and John to see Andrew Bird perform at the Sonar club in Baltimore. Bird puts on an interesting show that revolves largely around his on-the-spot loop creations.

Using a pair of Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler Stompbox he lays down layers of violin riffs, whistling, and sometimes singing which the whole band then joins in over top of. A very unique performance that has me wanting to try out one of those stompboxes for myself.

Casio AZ1

Speaking of studio gear, I'm amazed that I'm still getting offers to buy my Casio AZ-1. I made one single reference to it back in 2002 and since then I've gotten one or two offer per year. Sorry folks but I took the first offer that was made and don't have no mo' to sell.
