Small Town Gay Dome
9/13/2007
After getting another belt advancment in Hapkido last night, Will and I watched "Small Town Gay Bar", a well done documentary about the challenges of several gay bars located in, well, small Mississippi towns.
- It made me really want to drive to Mississippi for a night of drinking at Rumors.
- It starkly reminded me of just how lucky and damn rich ALL of us living in the DC area are (don't your forget it!).
- And it surprised me when a woman named Debbie Shutawk was interviewed in front of her futuristic dome home.

Yes, amid the mobile homes and extremely modest houses of the town there was this woman living in a dome who's design I'd never seen before. It took some scouring of the Web but I'm pretty sure it's a prefabricated fiberglass unit from Domes International. Very cool I must say. In my scouring I also came across:
The Versadome - which reminded me of the Venturo home.

Custom Spherical Fiberglass Design - all sorts of wild possibilities here.
Dome Green House Kits - this looks a lot like the computer section in the Swan Station of Lost.

And the Space Frame - which is decidedly un-dome like but is still very cool. They even have downloadable mood music for the home.
