John Alton's photo direction in noir classics such as "The Big Combo" really is exceptional. He creates incredible mood by using an almost entirely caliginous canvas that allows only the necessary elements to stand in relief. If the Mesmers ever do a music video I'd like it to have a look reminiscent of his work.
