Music Update

Jay and I finished up the vocals for the new Mesmers EP this week and it looks like the thing will be mixed and done by the end of August. It's good to have it out of the way as I'm looking forward to working on the new album proper.
My solo EP will probably be out about the same time. I've got so much material lying around that we decided it's best for the Mesmers to focus on studio-based downtempo music and leave the more upbeat pop stuff for my personal efforts.
I think it's a good decision that will work out well for all of us. The other guys just don't have the flexibility in their schedules to play out that much and the Mesmers will benefit from a more disciplined and focused sound. One common complaint we got about our first album was that it was to disparate stylistically. Pop? Rock? Downtempo? It made it difficult to market. We all want the next album (not this EP, but the real album) to be much more narrowly focused.
So what's my solo stuff going to be like? Heh, heh. Well, I'll tell you as soon as I know. I've got about 2 albums worth of material written and I just need to settle on a unifying sound for it all. In general, it will be upbeat and "happier" pop tunes with perhaps some of my electronic mood pieces mixed in for good measure.
