My Dying High School: T.C. Williams

It seems somehow appropriate that in the year I turn 40, and society dictates the demise of my youth, one quintessential symbol of that youth, my high school, is being demolished.
T.C. Williams is being torn down now that its replacement building is up and running. Opened in 1965, T.C. is best know for its "Remember the Titans" story. I attended for three years (1983-1985) and while I thought the teachers, curriculum, and overall atmosphere were excellent, I found the building itself to be lackluster and small.
Still, it was my high school and I'd hoped to get into the old building one more time before it went. It seems I've missed my chance. While they haven't started pulling down the main building yet it's interior is gutted and the science lab (which was completed my junior year) and parking lot have been removed. A passing student I spoke with said the whole thing will be gone in a month. Here are a few pictures:
