McCain and "Heroes" On Gays
5/21/2007
From John McCain:
"I believe polarization of personnel and breakdown of unit effectiveness is too high a price to pay for well-intentioned but misguided efforts to elevate the interests of a minority of homosexual service members above those of their units. Most importantly, the national security of the United States, not to mention the lives of our men and women in uniform, are put at grave risk by policies detrimental to the good order and discipline which so distinguish America's Armed Services."
Interesting. I believe there were large problems integrating blacks into the US military. This obviously caused "polarization of personnel" and no doubt some "breakdown of unit effectiveness". Does Senator McCain believe that effort was a mistake?
From the producer of "Heroes" on the disappearance of the one gay character from the show:
"(Dekker's) manager threatened to pull him from the show because he was up for the John Carter role in The Sarah Connor Chronicles and she didn't want him playing a gay character because it might affect FOX's interest in hiring him," Heroes co-executive producer Bryan Fuller said in an interview posted on popgurls.com. "It got really ugly. I was very upset by it -- I was not happy about it at all."
If true, that's pretty pathetic.
