Optimystic - anticipating the best, often to an unwise extent, based on superstitious or mystical beliefs.
Function: adjective
Examples: The religious man was optimystic about the existence of an afterlife. President Bush based his decision on purely optimystical evidence.
May also be used as a noun as in: "The optimystic believed she heard the voice of god(s) telling her what to do."
