Kevin and Heather's Wedding

Kevin and Heather had their big day last Saturday and Will and I were there to see it. Actually, I did more than just see it, I participated. The groom, Kevin, asked me to fill in as a groomsman at the last minute. That made the weekend a bit more frantic than we'd planned, but everything turned out fine.
ME: "What happened to the groomsman I'm replacing?"
KEVIN: "We don't really know. He just kind of disappeared."
ME: "Guantanamo?"
KEVIN: "Probably not, but it sounds good. That's what we'll tell everyone."
All aspects of the wedding came off with out a hitch. Except, perhaps, for the weather which was sunny and bright the day before and after, but wet and gloomy for the ceremony. This forced the wedding inside but hardly diminished it in any meaningful way. Heather looked beautiful, Kevin looked relaxed, and the bridesmaids looked very comely in their tasteful dresses (no HUGE bows tied to their behinds). The Unitarian preacher adroitly shepherded the vows and except for an annoying fly that landed right on Kevin's glasses (snicker), it all went quite well.
Afterwards it was nice to visit with Brian and Phil and for once not be the only gay couple at the wedding. We ate, enjoyed the music (and no Will still wouldn't dance with me) and spent time socializing with everyone.
KEVIN: "I tried to convince Heather that we could handle all the wedding music by just using Journey, Foreigner, and REO Speedwagon!"
ME: "How'd that go"
KEVIN: "Uh, not well..."
The evening was winding down and Will and I had still not signed the large matted photo of the couple as everyone else had. I just didn't want to put another "best wishes" line on it but couldn't come up with anything significantly better. Too much wine and too little sleep wasn't making me particularly eloquent. In the end, I settled on a few lines that, while not especially profound, do sum up much of what a wedding is about: And so the adventure begins! Never forget to enjoy it!
