On A Manhunt
5/19/2006
A few months ago I joined Manhunt after hearing that a few friends were on it. As I've said before, I love personal ads. I almost never contact anyone thru them, but I love the browsing. Add in the prospect of finding a few acquaintances giving the full monte and I was sold.
After perusing these personals sites for many years now I've begun to see many patterns and I've formed more than a few opinions. Such as:
- Anyone who describes themselves as "very good looking (vgl)" automatically isn't.
- Gynecologically close pictures of your puckering anus are rarely flattering and NEVER a substitute for a face pic. I personally will not hold a conversation with that end.
- Initial one-phrase greetings like "hi", "hey", and "How ru" deserve terse, one-phrase responses such as "fine", "okay", and "gr8". This is especially true for people who have zero information about themselves in their profile.
- It seems that no one is into fakes, liars and game-players. What a surprise.
- Profiles with pictures of other people labeled: "the type of guy I like" are lamer than can possibly be described.
- Why is it all gay men seek "masculine" guys? Where are the profiles declaring a preference for "raging queens", "effeminate boiz" or at least "androgynous man-love"?
- There is no way there can be THAT many 39-year-olds out there...
Oh, and in case you're wondering my screen name for most of these sites is usually "zennster", and no, I'm not naked on any of them.
