12/29/2005 - Xmas 2005
It was a small and low-key xmas. Will and I went to our respective parents farms, as always, and my brother, his wife, and new child went to his in-laws home. That left just mom, dad, and myself gathered around the tree come christmas eve.
We spent the day wandering around Culpeper (a small town near my parent's home) enjoying the sights and noting how much more upscale the place was becoming. Then dinner at home, packages in the morning, and back into Culpeper xmas afternoon to see King Kong (which was good, but too long and lacked the elusive magic of the original).
It was a nice christmas, but I somehow couldn't attune myself to the season's spirit. I felt like I was more going thru the xmas motions than savoring its offering. This is probably just because I've been so swamped with work of late.
Christmas gifts were good to me this year -- especially in the area of copper-colored industrial items. Witness the best two: a Lawson Zephyr clock from Will, and a killer ray gun from my mom.
