4/8/2005 - In the Can

I'll start by apologizing for neglecting everyone's emails, social gatherings, phone messages, and this Web journal, but for the last month I've done little but try to finish this album. I haven't gone to the gym, I haven't gone to parties, and hell, I think I only went into work for all of 5 whole days.

But now it's over. Finished, Finito. Over and out. I just shipped our album to the mixing/mastering guy.

And quite the mixing/mastering guy he is. We're really lucky to have gotten Bruce Miller to work on our first album. His talents and resume are second to none. He's mixed for people like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, Yes, Mariah Carey... The list goes on and on. Bruce was kind enough to work for us at his "starving artist" rate in between some work he's doing for the White Stripes. Wow!

So we're fairly optimistic about how the whole thing will turn out. Next steps: Live show and press kit.

Money and Work

Oh, and "in the Can" is also an appropriate title for the state of my finances these days. It's good that I've got a new job working with my old boss Anna. That and some side work should help me recover from this costly artistic expression.

Duran Duran

It's also a bit coincidental that the album should wrap up on the same day I'm going to see one of my favorite bands, Duran Duran. Patrick is footing the bill after our last disaster in seeing them and it should be good fun.

And Jimbo... I think I'll pass on the eye-shadow, but I am trying to figure a way to wear my glacier glasses and still be able to see the show...
