Thanks to Lisa for pointing out this article in the Washington Post about Samhsa's efforts to remove the words "gay," "lesbian," "bisexual" and "transgender" from the program of a government funded conference on suicide prevention. That's pretty dam low -- even for the religa-bigots. I mean we are talking about potential suicide victims here.
Also galling is the request from the government to add a session on faith-based suicide prevention. Now we have the U.S. government officially requesting a scientific conference include a session on... religion and mysticism?
Interestingly enough, my main Web project for the last several years has been building Online courses for Samhsa and they'd been talk of a new one on suicide prevention...
