4/13/2003 - The Fire, The Seeds, The Celebration

The Fire

A fire truck

A bit of excitement yesterday. After I discovered smoke forming in the basement, Will and I traced it to a dryer fire in the next door neighbors house. Its a good thing we were there. The two teen-aged boys at home seemed clueless and a tad indifferent to the fact that their laundry was burning in their basement. We put it out with our handy fire extinguisher (strike up one for our new emergency box) and then called Alexandria's finest. Jay would be proud. When the fire department did show up (in four huge trucks no less) they finished things off and sucked all the smoke out with a huge fan.

Geez I'd hate to be those kids when their dad gets home...

Pumpkin Seeds

Note the now empty fire extinguisher in the background.

After settling down from all the excitement we got back to work and Will planted the seeds (both literally and figuratively) for the next pumpkin party. These particular seeds were saved from the really nice one we had last year.

The Celebration

And finally, the party. It was a nice mellow affair. I didn't see one naked person, but it is a little cold in the year yet for that stuff :). I wish we could have stayed longer, but you know how it is for us: early to bed, early to rise, blah, blah, blah... Happy birthday again to Diane!
