The DarkFitz Returns
3/13/2003
Well it seems the other boot has finally fallen at work: I've been quasi-laid off. I'm still an employee mind you, but my boss has warned me to "take some time off" and that things will be "very slow" for the next six months. Hmm...
To be honest, I'm not that upset about the whole thing. Its amazing I was able to ignore the whole tech-sector slowdown as long as I did. Hunkering down with government contractors proved stable and profitable, but I'd been feeling it was time for a change for a while now. You see, I'd pretty much reached the pinnacle of my career about a year and a half ago. I made as much as any Web designer could expect, had lots of creative control, flexible work hours, and often got to work at home. There just wasn't much room for improvement.
And so I'm looking at this whole thing as an opportunity to make some needed changes in my life. An opportunity and impetus to step from one pleasant but dull stone in the river to another where the waters are moving with a little more rapidity.
As an intermediary measure it looks like I'll be donning my nondescript, dark clothes, breaking out my trusty Newton and doing the private eye thing again for a while. Its comforting to have a plan B.
Philanderers of Gotham beware...
