10/28/2002 - Pumpkin Pictures
Another year, and another fine pumpkin party. The 2002 pumpkin party turned out to be quite a success. We had worried all week that cold weather and rain were going to ruing the night, but midmorning Saturday the sky cleared up, the temperatures rose, and the weather set the stage for really enjoyable evening.
People showed up later this year, and stayed a lot later as well. The whole thing didn't get wrapped up till about three in the morning. This was also the first year that we made it a costume party, and people took to that facet pretty well. It was downright scary how much Will looked like an older Harry Potter. Yikes!
Getting set for the party was a lot of work. All combined, it probably took four full work days to get everything in place, and I don't even want to think of how much it cost.
But was all worth it, because it at afforded us a few hours visit with all those friends we never get to see. The next morning, durning cleanup, Will and I kept saying:
"It was really good to see so-and-so, we should make sure to invite him/her/them over for dinner one night."
Sadly, it rare we ever get around to making those invitations. It's not that we don't want to, its just the same tired old story about how busy life and how the days slip by so quickly. Before we know it, nine months have passed and we haven't seen any of them. By then, hell, its time to start planning for the next party...
I decided to make things easy on myself and post the picture to my .mac account. Go take a look.
Its interesting to look at the party pictures from 2 years ago and see how much smaller it was then.
