1/21/2002 - Leather All Around
Friday Will and I hit the Eagle for some chap-wearing fun at Mid Atlantic Leather night (and no we weren't in chaps). I haven't been out for a long time, many months, and it was good to be back in my old stomping grounds. I kept running into people I used to hang out with and getting a somewhat blank reception. I felt somehow guilty, like I'd been neglecting or had abandon the them, which I suppose I had. Still, it was good to be back.
Free tip to the husky: If your very overweight don't wear a tight harness for god sakes!!! It looks like some sort of gut-containment device. Like the string you wrap around a roast to keep it from falling apart in the oven.
Saturday morning brought the smell of leather once again - albeit in a vastly different form. Despite the first serious snow of the season, we trekked North to the Timonium Maryland Fair Grounds to see my mom's horse, Domino, perform at an Expo. It was an agreeable time. Will was in his solemnity mode. Attempts at conversation with him were like playing tennis with someone who never bothers to hit the ball back over the net. No anger or drama, he just gets this way on occasions. So I visited with the folks, shot some footage with the new digital camcorder, and visited this great little Irish restaurant/pub, An Poitin Stil.
Oh, and I almost bought a pair of shoes from this guy - who is even better looking in person than in his picture. Grrr - love them big strong Aussie accents!
