12/23/2001 - Xmas and Final Fantasy
Early Morning here and I can't sleep. It probably has much to do with the overabundance of food I ate last night when Will, Patrick and Jenny went out to dinner. Ugh.. Chocolate cake... Love it, but that many calories in one sitting is a shock to the system.
All the packages are set, the tree trimmed and except for an overstuffed stomach, there is zen-like balance in this holiday season for us.

It is always interesting to get a glance at the future - even in a developmental form. Final Fantasy the move, is such a look forward. In case you haven't seen it, it is a completely computer generated (CG) film. The plot if forgettable, the voice work mediocre, but the animation is astounding. There are scenes in it that look eerily life like.
I can remember the first CG shorts appearing in the early 80's. They were clearly NOT lifelike. 20 years later Final Fantasy stands as a real marker of how far the technology has evolved. Its easy to see how CG characters and sets will begin to replace their real-life counterparts in the next 20 years.
You have to wonder what will happen to the entertainment industry when "good looks" become defined by artificial creations, not real people.
I mean who needs a Brittany Spears, or a Backstreet Boyor a Madonna, when you can get a really talented singer to back a prettier computer generated face?
