4/23/2001 - Summer Arrives and Freddies Bar
Summer arrives and the world is good again.
Will and I got up early yesterday, dropped by our friend Drew's place for a while and on his recommendation visited the new gay bar / restaurant Freddie's .
Freddie's Beach Bar is located just a mile or so from our house and turned out to be a great place. We dropped by for breakfast and had an excellent time. Outdoor deck, mixed crowd, complimentary champaign, and a live piano player all the while. The decor is, um, fancifully to say the least. The boxes of Barbie dolls along the walls could be a little over the top, as is the glitter EVERYWHERE , but otherwise it was nice and laid back. Freddie himself was instantly recognizable - kind of a more handsome John Waters type wearing a bight yellow tie .
We'll have to go there at night and see what kind of crowd it draws. Probably not my normal type , but could be good for a drink or two.
Oh, one final note: Freddie's has karaoke three nights a week, and I know a little Teapot that has promised me a command performance.....
