8/10/2000 - Bullet-Proofing Birthdays
My last post for a week. I'm headed out of town to Pennsylvania for a while. Another year at Pennsic. Not doing too much for my birthday. Just having a few friends over for pizza Saturday night. Or should I say inviting a few friends over. Birthday Parties are kind of a curse thing with me. Let me explain.
I live a good life, and for the most part, things turn out well for me. I have good friend, a healthy social life, and people usually treat me pretty well. Except on birthdays. Which are always a disaster.
21 was my last really good birthday. Since then its been one fiasco after another. lets see... there was:
- My 30th birthday where after making big plans for a party only one person bothered to show up (thanks Jay).
- There was my 31st where my mother cried because I held hands with my boyfriend over dinner.
- And of course the 26th where everyone forgot my birthday. Even the guy I was dating. Only one friend bothered to wish me a happy birthday.
- The 23rd saw my car windshield busted out.
- and on and on..
I could bore you with many more stories, but its too damn depressing and it makes me sound like some loser geek who lives alone and talks to his cat all night.
Suffice to say, I've learned to bullet proof these events. Saturday I will be in my house with lots of beer and pizza. If people want to show up to join in, great! I'd love to see old friends, exs, and the like. But if not, also great! I'll merrily consume my food, swill my beer, and demand sex from my boyfriend.
A fine night either way.
Back in a week with a new song (almost finished it last night), cool pictures, and who knows what else.
