Surviving the Weekend
6/12/2000
It is Monday morning and I'm glad to say I survived the rest of the weekend. True, I expected to be struck by a car, accosted by muggers, or at least get a parking ticket. But no such misfortunes came. Instead the weekend just coasted uneventfully into a rented movie, dinner and sleep.
That movie was the director's cut of Blade Runner. An excellent film with a superior ending to the initial release, but lacking the main character's narration throughout the film. I though the narration added a great deal. It lended a "hard-boiled detective" flavor to the original which I missed in this version.
This weekend was also the 25th DC Gay and Lesbian Pride festival. Needless to say, with all that went on, I never got within a mile of any of it. At least my friend Paul McCabe sent me a bunch of pictures. Thanks Paul. Maybe next year won't be so chaotic.
