5/22/2000 - Humwawa Plays

Had a busy night Sunday. Went to a country western party over at Jacks. Ate way too much, but had a good time. Jack has a great looking place and it was cool to hang out even if Will and I didn't do any dancing (A bad childhood experience in a trailer park has left me unable to dance to country music).

Then I went off to see Sam's band Humwawa and was surprised at how good they were. I think this is by far the best act Sam has put together. Well done! The whole "meandering art-rock" style really seemed to work this time. I particularly liked the drummer (frenzied intensity), the sound efx created by the guitarist (hear the wales) and Sam's vocals, eerily "Peter Gabrialesque" at times (don't argue with me on this Sam, Dave agreed you sounded right off of Nursery Cryme).

Suggestions for Humwawa

Before Humwawa was a band called Bebot. They looked really interesting. Anyone know if they have a website?

Uhh.. It was fun, but seeing bands and having to get up at 5:00 a.m. the next morning just doesn't go well together.
